Learn to Swim Week 2017 will be held during the September holidays from September 23 – October 2.
It will be kick-started by Learn to Swim Day on Saturday, 23rd September.
It is an inaugural awareness week aimed at educating parents on the importance of teaching kids aged under five to swim. It’s also about reminding everyone about the importance of water safety.
Our aim is to give every child in Australia and New Zealand aged under five the opportunity to learn to swim !
Worldwide, drowning is the number one cause of accidental death in children under 5 years of age. In Australia, one person on average, drowns every week. Teaching a child to swim early is the best prevention.
During Learn to Swim Week, free swim lessons are offered to children aged under five at participating swim schools across the country. To host free swim lessons at your swim school, click here.
Our goal this year is to get 500 swim schools to support this initiative.
